The City of Brampton Parks and Recreation Department switched their community swimming program to the Lifesaving Society's program. They wanted a unique brand for their new swim program so the Lifesaving Society asked my agency and I to develop it for them. I had done some previous work for them and after awarding the job they found out that I live in Brampton so it was a nice fit.
I developed this stylised wave graphic that envelops bold type. The wave graphic not only represents water, the two waves form a circle to play off the continuing levels of the program and imply the motion of someone rotating their arms while swimming. The bold type gives the logo an authoritative feel but the angles in the letter forms also imply a sense of play.
The simple design works well printed on newsprint or painted on a pool's wall. And now my kids get to see what their dad does every time they go for a swim.
